«Sinara» (2ES6, 3ES6)

The 2ES6 freight two-section electric locomotive with a collector traction drive and a contactor-rheostat start-up system is designed for driving freight trains on 1520 mm gauge railways electrified with 3 kV direct current.

It is capable of driving a train weighing 8000 tons on sections with a flat track profile (up to 6 0/00) and a train weighing 5,000 tons on sections with a mountain profile (up to 10 0/00).

Due to new design solutions, the technical characteristics of the electric locomotive have been improved, operating costs have been reduced, and the reliability and safety of the electric locomotive have been increased compared to previously created locomotives: 

  • reduced power consumption by 10-15%;

  • reduced the complexity of repairs by 15%;

  • the working conditions of locomotive crews have been improved;

  • the inter-repair mileage has been increased by 50%;

  • The average daily productivity has been increased by increasing the weight norm by 25-45%.

Currently, more than 1,500 «Sinara» electric locomotives of the 2ES6 and 3ES6 series are in operation.
